botany distinguishes the ways that seeds are oriented in the ovary. free central refers to the seeds being around a central stem, free from connection to the walls of the pod. this necklace represents a horizontal cross section of such a seed pod, in speckled green enamel for the wall, and bright green and off-white for the central stem.
